It all began 27 years ago with turkeys. I would donate turkeys, but never knew where they went. I never got to meet the families. I wanted to make a difference and support a local charity. Flipping through the phone book, I found Timothy Hill Children’s Ranch (now known as Timothy Hill). At that time, there were only 17 boys (now they house young women too). After meeting Jerry and Fern, I was immediately impressed.
Sixty years ago, Jerry and Fern opened their home to foster children who were homeless and in need of temporary housing. Their oldest son, Timothy, saw the painful hardships and emotional suffering that the children had endured. He was deeply affected. He told his parents he wanted to someday “build a place where troubled kids could live, be loved, feel safe and have wide open spaces to ride horses.” Timothy began to save money for the land where his dream could become a reality. On May 11, 1972, a tragic bicycle- truck accident ended Timothy’s life at the young age of 13. Since then, his parents have devoted their lives to develop the Ranch to keep Timothy’s dream alive. To date nearly 1,000 children have lived at the Ranch. The program’s vision is to transform hearts and change lives through love. Timothy Hill has grown to become a home in Riverhead, New York, for a total of 60 residents.
Through the generosity of local merchants we have been able to provide these young people with Christmas year after year. We have been able to supply each young adult with individual gifts and purchase a group gift for the Ranch. Last year, because of you, we were able to build an outdoor basketball court. The kids LOVE it!
Christmas is rapidly approaching and at this time I am respectfully asking for your support. This year we want to raise enough money to create a recreation room for the residents so they can watch movies, play games and just be kids! I realize that there are many needy causes, especially at this time of year, but any contribution you can make would be greatly appreciated and will really make a difference to these kids. Please make your tax-deductible donation payable to Timothy Hill. Know that 100% of your donation goes directly to the kids.
I thank you for your consideration and may you and your loved ones have a wonderful, joyous and blessed holiday.Sincerely,
Your online contribution will help us provide residents with a recreation room for watching movies, playing videos and enjoying getting to be a kid.
